Community Groups

“Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts… And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭46‬-‭47‬ ‭(NIV‬‬)

Purpose

In the New Testament there are 59 “one another” passages instructing Christians on how to interact within the body of Christ.  At First Baptist Ewing we believe it would be difficult (if not impossible) to fulfill these commands on a Sunday morning alone.

This is where Community Groups come in.  A Community Group is not just Bible study (though Bible studies are important).  It’s also not a supper club (though we also believe in the importance of fellowship and breaking bread).  A Community Group is a place to put into practice those “one another” passages of the Bible.  It is a place where we can love one another.  Serve one another.  Pray for one another, etc.

What to Expect

The setting of a Community Group is intended to be informal and welcoming to all (even to those who are not members of our Church).  We meet at the home of the pastor or one of our members.  Our time together typically lasts about an hour to an hour and a half.  And plenty of coffee and snacks are usually involved.

During our time together there will be opportunities for fellowship, prayer, and a time to deep dive into the Word of God.  About once a month we’ll set aside opportunities for additional fellowship as well.  This might be a bonfire.  A cookout.  Or simply a shared meal togethe
